Obituary of Phyllis Mignogna
Phyllis A. Mignogna, 107 years of Pennsauken, passed away peacefully at home on February 22, 2016.
Born in Landisville, NJ, she was the daughter of the late Salvatore and Lucia Mignogna and was predeceased by three brothers and five sisters. A 1927 graduate of Vineland High School, Phyllis also attended Business school prior to entering into the legal profession as a personal secretary to several attorneys and five judges and finally as administrative assistant to the Camden County Surrogate retiring at age 75. Dedicated to the family, Phyllis enjoyed gathering them all together for special events such as celebrating the feast of St. Joseph. She traveled extensively in earlier years, however, her favorite place to vacation was the Jersey shore and prior to her deteriorating health, you could find her on many occasions enjoying dinner at Caffe Aldo Lamberti in Cherry Hill. Known for her gracious hospitality and love of entertaining, she surrounded herself with family, friends and neighbors, preparing and serving home cooked meals while reminiscing about days gone by.
Survived by loving nieces and nephew; Carmel M. Naples, with whom she resided, Rita D. Vogt of Mt. Laurel, Anna Lucia (Garry) Dawson of Philadelphia, PA, Rosemary Mignogna of Mt. Laurel, Gloria Jean (Robert) Vasta of Woodbridge, VA and Michael S. Mignogna of Medford. Dear cousin of Sr. Lena Mignogna of the Fillipini Order, Morristown and many devoted great and great, great nieces and nephews.
Phyllis was active parishioner of St. Peter's RC Church in Merchantville for the last 55 years and also served as a past officer for UNICO National, Pennsauken Chapter and the Sons of Italy Lodge #2229 in Medford.
Relatives and friends are invited to the Visitation and Funeral on Friday from 9-10:30 AM at the Falco/Caruso & Leonard Pennsauken Funeral Home, 6600 N. Browning Rd. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 AM at the Church of St. Peter, 43 W. Maple Ave in Merchantville. Entombment will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Cherry Hill.
