Biography: Gary, Sandy's life partner, and, our beloved father, grandfather, uncle, brother, and friend passed away September 7, 2012 at the age of 74. Gary Roger Wahl was born on February 2, 1938 to Pauline and Chris Wahl in Wessington Springs, South Dakota. He grew up on a farm bordering Jeruald and Hand County. His elementary education was in a one-room country school; he attended high school in Huron and Wessington Springs, graduating in 1956. He earned a BS degree in Education from Northern State University in Aberdeen, SD in 1960 and a M.Ed from the University of Guam, Mangilao, GU in 1971. Gary taught math and coached at Chamberlain High School until 1964. From 1964, until he retired in 1991, he taught and worked in administration for the Guam Public Schools and Guam Community College. From 1993 until he moved to Collingswood, NJ in 2006, he provided technology support through the Minister of Education for the Republic of Palau Public Schools. As he proved time and time again, "He could fix almost anything." Gary was united in marriage to Sandy (Naomi) Sanderson in Wessington Springs, SD on July 6, 1958. Their marriage was blessed with three children, Roger, Leigh, and Charles. Gary was the "foundation" and the "anchor" that provided a loving family home. His love and strength continued to support and guide his family through his many major surgeries and illnesses. He loved to travel and the world was certainly his adventure. Many are grateful for having shared Gary's life: his wife, Sandy, of Collingswood, NJ, 3 children, Roger and Cheryl Wahl, Mangilao, GU; Leigh and Bruce Brenner, Stuart, FL; and Charles and Bridget Wahl, Collingswood, NJ; 9 grandchildren, Renee Wahl, Cassandra and Gary Jaconski, Derrick Wahl, and Maria Wahl; Ryan and Tyler Brenner; Wolfgang and Lucy Maven Wahl; sisters-in-law Lorene Cavigielli of Huron and Deanna Sanderson, Aberdeen,SD; brothers-in-law Charles Sanderson and Norgrin Sanderson Aberdeen, SD; many nieces and nephews; and friends from near and far. He was preceded in death by his parents Pauline and Chris Wahl, parents-in-law Margaret and Lawrence Sanderson, brothers Raymond and LeRoy Wahl, sister Viola Andersen, brothers-in law Berton Andersen and John Day, sisters-in-law Elaine Wahl, Orva Day and Kathy Sanderson. "To my friends, thank you for all the wonderful times we've had together, the places we visited and the friendships that remained through the years. To my family, I love you. I want you to remember all the hugs and love that demonstrates a family is forever. Thank you for being there, for the memories, and the fun and exciting things we did together. Thanks for the love and joy that is so much a part of being a Wahl."
