Obituary of Terrance W. Murphy
Terrance Warren Murphy, age 76, passed away November 09, 2024, following a battle with diabetes and kidney failure. He was a 1967 graduate of Midpark High School, Cleveland, Ohio where he played wide receiver and tight end for the football team as well as baseball. He was drafted into the Army that year and rose to the rank of Captain during his service.
Terry “Murph” made his name in the mortgage banking business on both the East and West Coast, eventually settling down in Cherry Hill, New Jersey for the last 36 years of his life. He was most comfortable coaching and refereeing football and umpiring baseball games. He was most known for his larger-than-life personality, incredible self-confidence, his hearty laugh and his unique ability to spin a yarn, always a story, always a laugh.
Terry, a true sports nut, was most recognized for his fanatic loyalty to the Cleveland Browns and Cleveland Indians, a passion passed on to him and his brother, Dennis by their father, Ray Murphy.
He was lucky in life, not necessarily in love, Terry was married 3 times, leaving behind 2 sons, Patrick Murphy, San Jose, CA and Jonathon Murphy, Bethesda, MD.
