Carolyn’s Life Story
Carolyn Hammond (lovingly known as Bootsie) was born on May 10, 1947, to Wilford and Florence Hammond. On Thursday, June 13, 2024, she departed this life and gained her wings.
Carolyn attended the Camden City Public School system and graduated from Camden High School in 1966. After graduating high school, she went straight to work at Bell Telephone now known as Verizon. Carolyn was 19 years old, and she worked there for 43 years in the Drafting Department.
Carolyn had a warm heart and a quiet spirit. She loved being around her family. Her love and commitment to family was immeasurable. On Sundays and the holidays, she would look forward to seeing everyone coming to “8th Street”. We could always look forward to her approval on the menu, she would let us know what should be added or what was not needed. One thing that had to be there was a cold “Pepsi”. The family would get a kick out of that because Carolyn didn’t cook.
Carolyn also looked forward to the weekends when her favorite guys were coming to spend time with her, Great – Nephews, (Isaiah Shaw and Jayden Nelson), she would check to see what time they were coming so that they could go to “WAWA”, she also made sure that their favorite snacks were available, she sat with them chatting about their week, what’s new in life all while they were immersed in the game. She enjoyed every moment with them.
Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents, Wilford and Florence Hammond, Sister Luvenia Stewart and Brother Ronald Hammond.
To Cherish Her Memories:
Siblings: Dolores Everett, Reginald Hammond (Carol), Shirley Hill and Wayne Hammond, Her God- Children (Nieces and Nephew) Beverly Coleman, Shireen “Nikki” Shaw and Jordan Marquez. And host of nieces and nephews and cousins.
