Just like every other two girlfriends, I would share with Marlene my troubles whether it was with men or something else. And when she would say “Jerr, life is too short…” I knew she would tell me the truth that I subconsciously didn’t wanna hear. And yes, many people say the phrase “life is too short” but coming out of her somehow the words had more value, more meaning.
On the rare occasions she would complain about a tree that fell on her roof or flooded basement. And even then she would talk about it with so much humor that I would start laughing even though the situation was not funny at all.
I used to walk her dog with my dog and that meant showing up unannounced at her house at different times of the day, early weekends mornings or late at night. Not a single time she looked messy or she seemed like she just got out of bed. Her hair always looked like she just got out of the hair salon, she had make up on and her manicure was always perfect. I need some of that!
I was decades younger than her and yet she was going out five times more than me. Whether it was dinner or lunches with friends, shopping, or sightseeing. The desire for life in her was enormous!
I will miss you my dear friend!

My Aunt Marlene was my favorite person in my whole life. She was my #1 cheerleader & I’m certain no one will ever love me as much as she loved me. It was no secret that I wished she was my mom. My mother picked her to be my fairy godmother & then years later she asked me to be her son’s godmother. My cousin John was a lucky guy. He hit the mom lottery. But she in return was blessed with a son whose love never quit. She was lucky too.
My Aunt Marlene was a part of every event in my life big or small. I adored her. She was the best listener always ready with sound advice. She had a radiant smile & giggled like a child. She was a professional worrier so I hope she is finally worry-free. I pray she finds Pop-Pop, Nana, Rocky, Mom, Teddy, Luke, Sheba & Shadow, all who she missed so dearly.
Her bright light can never be extinguished & she will never be forgotten. Godspeed Aunt. I miss you so much already & I’ll love you forever. Trisha Xxoo
