Obituary of Alma H. Zwick

Alma H. Zwick (nee Ronca) of Haddon Township passed peacefully on December 14, 2023, at the age of 95. She was born and raised in Camden, New Jersey as one of seven children of Lorenzo and Jennie Ronca, Italian immigrants who made their home in North Camden. She graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School in 1946 shortly thereafter began working as a personnel officer in private industry in Camden and later owning a retail women’s clothing store in Cherry Hill. She is predeceased by her husband Albert, brothers Silvio, Lawrence, Albert and sister Vilma Horcher. She is survived by her sisters, Catherine Tambussi and Anna Wawrzyniak, and numerous nieces and nephews and other family members who all greatly benefited from Aunt Alma’s example as a strong, independent woman firm in her convictions and opinions.

In 1978, Alma began her long and storied career of public service first in the public relations office of the County of Camden. She continued working for the County of Camden into her nineties in various positions in County Administration. Alma also served Haddon Township, where she lived for over 50 years, as a member of the Township Rent Control Board, Housing Authority and as a founding member of the Civic Celebration Committee and the Westmont Travel Group. A lifelong Democrat, Alma was a Camden County Democratic Committeewoman for over 25 years and a former treasurer of the Haddon Township Democratic Committee. Alma was an active member of the St. Vincent Pallotti Women’s Club and a parishioner at St. Joseph the Worker Parish.

Relatives and friends are invited to the Visitation and Funeral on Tuesday from 9:30 am to 11:15 am at Saint Joseph the Worker Parish, at the Church of Saint  Vincent Pallotti, 901 Hopkins Road in Haddon Township. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:30 AM. At the request of the family, final burial will take place privately at a later date.

In lieu of flowers,  donations can be made in Alma’s memory to The Cathedral Kitchen, 1514 Federal St, Camden, NJ 08105 or St. Jude Children’s Hospital, P.O. Box 1999, Memphis, TN 38101.
