Obituary of Calvin Lee Bates Jr.

Calvin Lee Bates Jr was born on September 19, 1983 at the US Army Hospital in Fort Campbell, Kentucky. Sadly, on Sunday, November 26, 2023, at 40 years old, Calvin found peace away his earthy home.  As a young child, Calvin attended Blackwood Elementary. Later after moving to Camden, NJ, he was enrolled at Sacred Heart.

Calvin achieved his GED from Camden County College. With his ambitious drive he sought to obtain a trade skill. Calvin was an exceptional student at American Institute, making the Dean’s list thrice. Ultimately, Calvin earned an electrical certification in July 2023 with his family proudly at his side.  Calvin was employed with ABC Supply Co. Even there, Calvin’s infectious smile and personality made an impact in that time. Calvin could be known as a jokester, stoic, reserved, and tenacious.  All of these describe the multifaceted person that was Calvin. Calvin’s sarcasm would make you second guess what was true or not. His exuberant amusement was unmistakable at your confusion! Just like a good laugh, Calvin enjoyed comedy movies; but even more, his favorite football team, the Dallas Cowboys. He was dependable and an engaging conversationalist on various topics. He could debate with you about anything! Calvin always made sure to check on his loved ones. You could count on him to come show support at your events wearing his favorite Chicago Bulls cap and black.

Calvin is the beloved son of Calvin L Bates, Sr. (Tracy), and Annette Bates (Baldwin). Devoted father to Marqua Bates (mother-Takia) Calena and Cailee Bates (mother-Davina). Dear brother of Monique Smith, Tresur Bates, and Chance and Pryce Bates. Loving uncle to MaKayla Benson, Josiah Torres, Jaylan Mendoza, and Rylan McCullough. Also survived by his godmother-Patricia Camps. A host of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends
