Obituary of Arthur Edward Marchione

Arthur Edward Marchione from Tabernacle, NJ, a man of unwavering dedication and indomitable spirit, peacefully passed away on October 22, 2023, at the age of 76. Born at a private hospital in Audubon, New Jersey on April 3, 1947, to the late John and Florence Marchione (née Muff), Art was a distinguished United States Army Veteran, where he served in Korea during the Vietnam War.

For 54 years, he was the beloved husband of the late Marie Louise Marchione (née Arbelonis). Art was a devoted father whose love knew no bounds, leaving an everlasting mark on the lives of his children, Amanda Tacal, Arthur Marchione Jr., Jason Marchione, Aubree Nuzzie (Robert), and Annette Marchione (Cruz Yambo). His warmth and guidance extended to his cherished grandchildren, Amaris, Lars, and Niles Murphy, Robert, John, Ema, and Hugo Nuzzie, and Amy Yambo. In his role as a great-grandfather to Almirra Murphy, he found immense joy and pride.

Art shared his life journey with his siblings, Donato Marchione (Dianne), Lawrence Marchione (Lidia), Filomena D'Arco (the late Serafino “John”), and Louise Marchione. He is reunited in the eternal embrace with his late siblings, Frances, John Jr. (the late Doris), Anthony, and Matthew Marchione (Barbara). He also enjoyed the company of his countless nieces and nephews, spreading his love and wisdom to the next generation.

Art had an enduring passion for cars, especially his Mercury, and was often found exploring the treasures of his dear friends’ local junkyard. His love for the outdoors was a testament to his adventurous spirit, with a love for skydiving in his early years, camping, and boating at Moores Beach and Cape May that added depth to his vibrant life. He found solace in the timeless melodies of Johnny Cash's music.

But above all, Art was a man of profound family values, often gathered around with loved ones, regaling them with stories of his upbringing amidst his large, beloved family. Cooking with his mother and grandmother (especially Easter bread dolls), winemaking, working alongside his family at the gas station, and even plucking chickens for dinner, were some of his most cherished memories. Because of his upbringing, he was a jack-of-all-trades, a builder, a seamster, you name it! As a prestigious engineer, he passed on his invaluable belief in confronting challenges with unwavering determination, instilling in his children the belief that they could achieve anything through self-belief.

Art's appreciation for the simple joys in life extended to the delicate fragrance of roses, particularly those from his mother's garden during his childhood. His love for basset hounds, notably his dear red basset, Copper, brought joy to his heart. Raising pigeons was yet another feather in his cap, emblematic of his multifaceted soul.

In the twilight of his life, like a bird taking flight, Art ascends to the heavens to be reunited with his beloved, Marie. Together, they soar to eternity, their love transcending time and place.

In accordance with Art's wishes, all services will be held privately, allowing his family to mourn and remember this remarkable man in the quiet serenity that he cherished. His legacy of love, resilience, and a deep bond with family lives on in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him.
