Obituary of Janet Dupree Locke
Janet Dupree Locke, age 86 of Pennsauken, New Jersey for 60 years, passed away peacefully at Arden Court in Cherry Hill surrounded by her loving family on June 20, 2023. She was born in Chicago, Illinois on November 29, 1936 to the late Paul Raymond, Sr. and Irene (nee Baker) Dupree.
Janet is the beloved wife of 67 years to Robert Carl Locke; devoted mother of Richard and his wife Cass, Stephanie and her husband Tom Hunt, and Cindi and her husband Jeff Wallin; loving grandmother of Joe (Sarah), Brian (Becky), Kevin, Sarah (Joe), David, Tim (Kelly), Robbie (Nicole), Bekki (R.J.), Lindsay and Jeffrey (Shannon) and great grandmother of 17; dear sister of Ruthann Bodenschatz and the late Robert Dupree Sr. and late Paul Raymond Dupree, Jr. She is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.
Janet worked as a real estate agent and processor for over 20 years. She was the historian for the Locke Family Association, the oldest such association in the US, for 37 years. She enjoyed walking the Cherry Hill Mall, going to her grandchildren's sporting events, and dedicating time as a Girl Scout leader and by cooking casseroles for Meals on Wheels. Janet also was very crafty, spending time crocheting afghans and sewing, could often be found relaxing with a crossword puzzle, and loved travelling with her husband to the Caribbean, Alaska and Hawaii or to visit her sister in Wisconsin during the summers.
Entombment services will take place at Locustwood Memorial Park in Cherry Hill on 27 June at 10:30 am followed by a private repass.
