Obituary of Elvin G. Gonzalez

Elvin G. Gonzalez, age 79 of Camden, passed away on February 7, 2023 at Cooper Medical Center in Camden. He was born on October 6, 1943 in Utuado, Puerto Rico to the late Tomas Gonzalez and Manuela Cortez.

Beloved husband of 57 years of Esmeralda (nee Ramos); Devoted father of Elvin (Nancy), Edwin (Mayda) and the late Edward Gonzalez; Loving grandfather of Elvin, Ericka, Edwin Jr. and Tony; great grandfather of Elvin, Leilani and Alyssa; Dear brother of Nilda Seltzer, Milagros, Jose L., Dioni, Hiram, Brunilda, Judy, Blanca, Nereida and the late Luis, Virginia Perez, Minerba, Isabel, Benjamin, Mercedes and Celia Gonzalez; He is also survived by special nieces Delia Mendez, Leonilda Vazquez, Zulma Gonzalez-Lombardo and many other loving nieces and nephews.

Mr. Gonzalez was owner and operator of Al's Cab in Camden from 1981 to 1994. He was the first Hispanic cab company owner in the City of Camden. He was an amazing grandfather; had a passion for playing pool; enjoyed playing dominos and was an avid softball player that had his own team – the Watson A's. Elvin was also a great cook and worked for a time as a chef at Olga's Diner in Marlton.

Relatives and friends are invited to the Visitation and Funeral on Thursday, February 16 from 6 to 8 PM and Friday, February 17 from 8:30 to 9:30 AM at the Falco/Caruso & Leonard Pennsauken Funeral Home, 6600 N. Browning Road. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 AM at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, 642 Market Street in Camden. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Cherry Hill.
