Obituary
Obituary of Frances Elaine Ingram Satchell
Frances Elaine Ingram Satchell, 76 of Glassboro, NJ passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by family on December 23, 2020.
Frances was born in Camden, New Jersey to Reverend N. Henry and Vera Ingram on July 2, 1944. She attended Camden City Public Schools and graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School Class of 1962. Frances went on to earn a Bachelor of Arts degree in Elementary Education from Glassboro State College presently known as Rowan University.
Frances was raised in a Christian home where she developed a strong relationship with the Lord. At a very young age Frances accepted the Lord as her personal savior and was baptized at First Nazarene Baptist Church in Camden, NJ. Later in life, Frances joined Bethany Baptist Church under the pastorate of her father, the late Reverend N. Henry Ingram, Sr. Following his death, Frances remained a devoted member of Bethany under the pastorate of Bishop David G. Evans. Frances served as a faithful Bethany choir member who ministered in song on the Ensemble Choir and Praise Team.
Frances caught the eye, and captured the heart of the love of her life, Bernard Wesley Satchell. Frances and Bernard were united in holy matrimony in 1967. This union was blessed with four sons, Bernard Jr., Dereck, Marc and Gregory.
Frances' passion for youth and dedication to education paved the way for her chosen career path. Frances devoted over 30 years of her life teaching in Camden City Public Schools. As an elementary teacher at Sumner, Parkside, and Bonsall Schools, Frances loved her students, their families and the communities she served. She believed with outstanding instruction every child could succeed.
Frances not only loved to sing, she lived to sing. Frances was blessed with a beautiful, angelic, soprano voice. Frances spent her entire life using her God-given gift for His glory. From a very early age her melodic voice paved the way for amazing opportunities to use her gift. Frances sang in school, church, community, state and nationally recognized choirs. She sang as a featured solo artist on live radio, on records and for many prestigious organizations and causes. Frances had a very remarkable vocal/musical resume which garnered her awards and accolades in many genres of music and diverse venues.
Frances was truly an angel on Earth. She was kind-hearted and loving to everyone she encountered. As the oldest of nine siblings Frances was the stabilizing sister and the latter matriarch of the family. Her siblings were at times extremely energetic and mischievous, and Frances always knew when and how to bring them back in line. As a wife, Frances’ life was truly a testimony to the fact that God’s way is the best way. Frances and Bernard’s marriage from beginning to end was filled with love, devotion and blessings. They modeled the true essence of for better, for worse, in sickness and in health. Their love was unconditional and endearing. As a mother of four sons, Frances raised her boys to be men of integrity. She poured into them all that she had and never wavered. Frances’ grandchildren were her pride and joy. Each day she thought about them, planned for them, purchased items for them, and prayed for them. Granny Franny, the most loving aunt, cousin and friend may be gone from our earthly presence, but her smile, compassion, and acts of kindness will never be forgotten.
Frances leaves to cherish her memory, devoted husband, Bernard Wesley Satchell, Sr.; four sons, Bernard Satchell, Jr., Dereck Satchell, Sr. (Brigette), Marc Satchell (Yasheka), and Gregory Satchell; seven grandsons Sean, Dereck, Jr., Matthew, Bernard III., Aharon, Elijah, Marc, Jr.; five granddaughters Brittany, Tyra, Lauryn, Rachel and Michelle; one great granddaughter Londyn; five brothers Norman Ingram, Jr. (Sharon), James Ingram (Renee), William Ingram (Cindy), John Ingram and Robert Ingram (Rhonda); two sisters Edith Ingram Gardener (Henry), Virginia Ingram Sye (Charles); two daughters in love Samantha and Dawn; and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.
