Obituary of John "Jack" William McLaughlin, Sr.

John "Jack" William McLaughlin, Sr., 88, born and raised in North Camden, passed away peacefully Wednesday, February 19, surrounded by his loved ones at St. Mary’s Nursing Home in Cherry Hill. John, called Jack, served honorably in the Navy from September 1948 until September 1952. After his discharge, Jack attended Rutgers University, Camden, while holding a position with RCA Victor. He graduated from Rutgers University with a B.S. in Mathematics in the year 1965. RCA promoted Jack and transferred him to Palm Beach Gardens, Florida. He was also employed by Univac in the computer department until he started his business, JML Computers, in 1977 which manufactured cables for computers. He retired in the year 2012. He is survived by his wife, Rose (nee Procacci) and his five children and twelve grandchildren: Marisa Griffin-DeGennaro (Albert) and children John, 3rd (Brianna), Matthew, Christopher (Sarah Jane), Katie; Dr. Vincent McLaughlin (Carol) and four children, Megan, Vincent, Allison Rose, and Michael; Lisa Daluz (Manny) and children Jena Snell (John) Roza Delfina, Forest, and Faith Horner; Gina; John McLaughlin, Jr and two sons, John, 3rd, and Patrick. He is also survived by five beautiful great grandchildren and a host of loving nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his only brother, Raymond McLaughlin (Mary), Pompano, Florida and is predeceased by his parents, Lillian and Raymond McLaughlin, who resided in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. Jack traveled in this country and abroad. He was a good dancer, and an excellent poker player . He played in tournaments in A.C., Las Vegas and abroad. He also attended many of his grandsons’ basketball games which he loved. Jack made all the family parties more fun with his games of bocce, horse shoes and was competitive in scrabble, chess and card games. Relatives and friends are invited to the Visitation on Tuesday, Feb. 25 from 10 - 11:30 AM at the Church of the Holy Eucharist, 344 Kresson Road, Cherry Hill, NJ 08034, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Noon. Interment will follow at New St. Mary's Cemetery in Bellmawr. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in his name to Holy Eucharist Church at the above address.
