My God continue to keep you my friend, Pete. Pete was instrumental in creating an atmosphere where everyone was welcomed. He was so creative in teaching as well as music. We grew up together from competitive bands in middle school to later as educators. He was always supportive of all my endeavors, and I will always be grateful for your love. You will be missed... My heart breaks, but I will see you in Heaven.

Today we say goodbye to my cousin Pete.
His wit and sense of humor was infectious as any professional stand-up and he was the nastiest bass player I have ever come across. When I was in middle school, I asked him if he could play like Flea, he laughed and said, “F—- Flea”. Then proceeded to destroy a cheap Yamaha bass of mine in a way that would make Wooten blush. He touched so many lives in a positive way. I’ll always remember him with a smile. Thanks for teaching me how to change strings on a Floyd Rose. Rest easy Pete.

I'll always remember that he asked me to perform with his group, at his school, along with Rich & Rob Budesa and Rob Henderson.I saw Pete many times and enjoyed his bass playing and solid musicianship at Ortliebs jazz club. I have the CD with Larry McKenna, Jason Shatil, Jim Schade, which is a terrific recording, where Pete's bass playing really stands out for it's beautiful sound, rhythm & note choices. He was a fine musician and kind person. My sincerest sympathies to his family on his premature passing.

Cuz,
Life was cut way too short for you and all that loved you but I find myself smiling knowing that you are in heaven either teaching someone how to get their GED, playing your trumpet or just cutting jokes.
It gives me comfort that your grandparents are with you and I am sure Grandmom C is forcing food!
The world has lost a great person/ huge talent / son/ brother and....cousin to all of us....but heaven has gained a great soul!
You have touched more lives that you ever knew and you will reside within us everyday!
You will always be loved!

I am so sad to hear of him passing. He was my 9th grade English teacher and made my experience of that year a truly joyful one. His playful spirit has continued to inform my own work as an educator for close to a decade now and I still think back to his guitar-playing, fervent, madcap teaching style.

Peter was a good friend of mine for a good portion of my life. The world was a better place with Peter in it - he was extremely talented, a brilliant musician and most importantly, an outstanding human being.
May you fly with the Angels Peter! Rest easy my friend. You were taken way to soon.
My deepest condolences to Peter's wonderful family, I can't even imagine what they must be going through right now.
God Bless

I team-taught with Pete for several years at PHS. He made those years some of the very best of my career. He was passionate about teaching and his students, and his passion for both was contagious. You made a difference, Pete. For your students and for me. Rest well.

I’ve known Pete since elementary school and all the way up through high school. I will always remember him as funny, energetic and incredibly talented with a big smile and warm laugh. I remember him as an outstanding trumpet player, and later on as a guitar/bass player. Freshman year he was kind enough to accompany me at an audition, which was very generous and very much appreciated. A sweet soul, gone too soon! Rest in peace, my friend...you made the world a better place and will be missed.

I am immensely saddened to hear of this. Mr. Colangelo was my 9th grade English teacher in 2004. I have many great memories of him, and he made me a better writer and person. His knowledge of his craft and skill at teaching it was unparalleled, matched by his character and personality. I can still recall vividly many of his sayings and mannerisms and I'm sure I'll never forget them. As I just returned to writing after not doing so for years, he will surely be in my thoughts.

Mr. Colangelo was an amazing English teacher. He made learning fun, accessible, and always pushed us to be our best. I’m an English teacher now and my love of reading and delving into text was most definitely nurtured by him. When he heard I was studying to be a teacher, he immediately sent me lots of materials to help me and I have used them. I am so grateful to him and am so sad to hear of his passing. Wishing his family love during this time.

I’m so sorry to hear this news. I played with Pete (and Perry!) for a few years in high school and a little after, and came out way better for it. I learned a lot playing with Pete. While everyone remembers what a great and talented musician he was (duh), I recall how funny he was. I especially remember that he could turn his eyelids inside out, and fold up his ears and put pencils in them. Now that’s a talent we don’t hear much about! Pete was a warm and wonderful guy, and I’m so sad to hear he’s left us so soon. My deepest condolences to Perry, Mr. and Mrs. C. and all the rest of the family.

I am so very sorry for your loss. Pete Jr. worked with me on several occasions. What a talented musician. He was always there with his bass and his warm smile. Both lit up the bandstand. I cannot imagine the pain your family is experiencing at this time. Some things make no sense in this world. This is one of them. May God grant you strength at this very difficult time.
I once heard this and never forgot it because it is true:
