Obituary of Elkanah Adam Rogers

Elkanah Adam Rogers, 35, died March 29, 2018 as a result of injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident. He was born on June 11, 1982 in Turnersville, NJ, the first born son of Elkanah U. Rogers and L'E'toile Rogers (nee Ramsey). He was educated in the Willingboro school district and graduated from Willingboro High School in 2000, where he was a member of the National Honor Society. He continued his education at Rutgers University, earning both a Bachelor's degree in Economics and Psychology, and an MBA with a concentration in Finance.

Adam held accounting and finance positions at Rutgers University, Weill Cornell Medical College, and most recently the Hospital for Special Surgery (HSS), Main Campus in New York City. There he was known to always wear a smile and to never say no. Because of his positive, outgoing and caring attitude, many of his co-workers also called him a friend.

From a young age, Adam (as he was affectionately known by his family) was always a high-energy person who loved being outdoors. In middle school, he played on the town's baseball team and could often be found riding bikes through the neighborhood with his brother Lem and best friend Troy. He loved to try many different sports and activities, including bowling, golfing, motorcycle riding, scuba diving and even skydiving. During his college years, Adam took an interest in snowboarding. It soon became a passion of his and he worked hard to introduce all of his friends to the sport. He began traveling the country to try out different mountains and very quickly developed a passion for traveling all around the world. Through his travels and due to his inquisitive nature Adam developed a strong appreciation for food. His palatable preference was Asian cuisine, specifically ramen and dumplings. Some of his favorite destinations included Japan, Taiwan, Montreal, Italy, Dubai and Cambodia. Adam loved photography. He had a great eye and not only enjoyed taking pictures of his own adventures but could also be relied on to capture some of his loved ones' most important moments. He often posted pictures of his adventures on Facebook and Instagram, using hashtags to help promote his sister's business 'Journey Geney'.

Adam had a deep love for Christ and was blessed to have a loving and supportive church family. He attended the Church of the Lord Jesus Christ of the Apostolic Faith in Philadelphia, where he gained knowledge and instruction on the Holy Bible, under the leadership of Bishop Omega Shelton. Adam developed such close friendships with other church members, that some were even known as family.

Adam is survived by his parents Elkanah and L'E'toile, his brother Lemuel, sister Helane and sister-in-law Anita. He also leaves his paternal great aunt and uncle, Modestine and Clarence Brown; godparents Denise and Wayne Wilson, and grandmother in Christ, Clara Liggins. He will be remembered by a host of extended family, friends, neighbors and co-workers.

Funeral arrangements are being handled by Falco-Caruso & Leonard Funeral Home, 6600 North Browning Road, Pennsauken, NJ. A homegoing service to celebrate Adam's life will be held Saturday, April 14th at 9:30 AM with doors opening at 9:00 AM. Interment will follow at Lakeview Memorial Park in Cinnaminson, New Jersey.
